Around six to eight weeks after breast surgery it will be time to come in for a fitting. Most incisions should be healed by then and you should be able to wear a weighted prosthesis. Women who experience breast conserving surgery will also benefit from a post-mastectomy fitting as there are partial prothesis available. They help fill in the missing portion of their breast and provide symmetry,

Most private insurances and Medicare plans have coverage for breast protheses and bras. Please check with your insurance before purchasing.
